FT’s health area provides vital services to a needy community. Since FT's launch in 2004, many thousands of
Trinidad residents, who would otherwise lack access to adequate healthcare services, have received treatment
free of charge or at an affordable cost. Much of this work is carried out on our own premises from Monday to
Friday of each working week, but treatment is also administered within the town of Trinidad and further afield
through the various community health programmes managed by FT personnel.
In April 2010, FT oversaw the opening of operating theatres on its premises, allowing surgical procedures,
including major ear surgery, to be carried out at FT's headquarters and, as a result, FT's health area was granted
Third Level Hospital status. Since 2007, when FT began administering surgical procedures, 1,015 different
procedures have been carried out on 678 patients. And more than two-thirds of those procedures have taken
place since the opening of FT's on-site operating theatres.
