FUNDACIÓNTOTAÍ
PROCLAIMING the Gospel of Jesus Christ PROVIDING services at a low cost PROMOTING integral training of workers
"This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples." John 15:8

Every week, from Monday till Friday, people come from across the
length and breadth of Beni State, and further afield, to receive
treatment at Fundación Totaí’s headquarters in Trinidad’s
north-east corner, benefiting from a wide range of health services.
But the provision of healthcare services is not restricted to the
hospital base and an essential strand of the healthcare work
takes place within Trinidad's city limits and beyond. These
services include:
Extended Programme of Immunisation (EPI)
This programme of community visits for vaccinations is run by FT staff
in co-ordination with the Regional Health Board, which provides vaccines
and syringes.
Women, Youth and Children Whole Health Programme
A free service for health promotion and health conservation.
Multidisciplinary Evaluation and Rehabilitation Programme for early
detection and management of people living with disability.
School Health Programme
A multidisciplinary “40 point” health check-up with treatment provision,
delivered by FT staff on-site at local schools and nurseries, and also
on rural community visits.
Population-Based Survey to Determine the Prevalence and
Causes of Hearing Impairment and Ear Conditions
Initiated in 2009, this is the first such survey carried out in Bolivia on
this subject. It follows World Health Organisation protocols and guidelines
for such surveys. With the WHO's approval, these have been translated
into Spanish and adapted to local needs as part of FT's “Oye Bolivia”
programme.
“Oye Bolivia” Programme for Prevention of Hearing Impairment
In 2005, the WHO estimated that over 278 million people worldwide live with disabling hearing impairment. Of those, two-
thirds live in developing countries such as Bolivia. Furthermore, half of these cases could have been prevented with
adequate healthcare and timely information.
Acting on this important need, “Oye Bolivia” PPHI has become FT's flagship programme. To read more about the work of
“Oye Bolivia”, please click here or on the relevant tab, above.
